BJP leader alleges threat

Dhubri, Feb. 26: The chairman of the Dhubri Municipal Board and BJP leader, Himabrata Majumdar, today accused Congress leader Uttam Sarkar, who is the chairman of Dhubri Sub-divisional Schedule Caste Development Board, of having threatened to kill him if he did not join the Congress.

Majumdar alleged that Sarkar had issued the threat over phone at 10.43 last night.

Majumdar has lodged an FIR at Dhubri police station.

Sarkar rubbished the allegation, saying he had no reason to force Majumdar to join the Congress.

The officer-in-charge of Dhubri police station, Harin Deka, said they would start investigating the matter from Monday, as telecom company offices would remain closed today and tomorrow.
