Molest cuffs

Calcutta, Feb. 26: Three youths were arrested in south Calcutta’s Chetla today on the charge of molesting a girl and beating up her brother when he protested.

The girl, who is appearing for Madhyamik, was returning after the exam with her brother when Kallol Ghosh, Sudip Mondal and Barun Barik allegedly approached her around 3.45pm. The trio allegedly tried to speak to her against her wish. When they attempted to pull her by the hand, her brother protested. But the three allegedly beat him up.

When the siblings, residents of Rakhal Das Auddy Road in Chetla, cried out for help, local people came rushing. However, the three youths managed to escape.

The trio were arrested after the girl’s brother lodged a complaint with Chetla police station. The police said the girl knew one of the youths. They said the trio had on earlier occasions, too, tried to speak to her.

The siblings had boarded an auto from the exam centre at Deshapriya Park and got off at the intersection of Chetla Central Road and Peary Mohan Roy Road.
