SAY SPORT

q: I’ve a Maruti SX4 but want to go for a sporty-looking car with good performance. Which car do you recommend within a budget of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh?

Damanpreet Singh

a: A logical upgrade from the SX4 is either the Honda City or the Fiat Linea T-Jet. Both cars are sporty in different ways. The arrow-shaped grille of the City is quite striking while the Fiat with hints of Maserati in the face is very classy. The Linea is more of a driver’s car than the City — its ride is exceptional and braking too is very good.

REVVING UP

q: I plan to buy a Toyota Corolla Altis diesel. But I feel the car is underpowered. Will it help if I install a Pete’s tuning box ?

M. Mohammed Basheer

a: Fitting any tuning box would increase the responsiveness of the car but at the expense of fuel economy. Be aware that a tuning box could make your warranty null and void.

CIVIC RULES

q: I can’t decide whether to buy a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla. Which one should I choose and why? I want a car that is less expensive to maintain.

Sujay Guha

a: There are no ifs and buts in this case. The Civic is the clear winner and beats the Corolla hands down in most areas except back seat comfort, which is better in the Corolla.
