Wispy pink clouds of cotton candy. Bombaim’s preview of spring-summer 2011 already sounded delicious. With love in the air (the event was on February 14), if you were not on cloud nine already, the sweet sights and smells of Bombaim could take you there. The store near Mocha on AJC Bose Road was dressed up in light spring classics — a burst of sorbet colours on one side courtesy Sonali Mansingka (nice shifts in light silks) and glamorous whites on the other side courtesy Sabbah Sharma (one very Halston-like silhouette that you could totally imagine Carrie Bradshaw flipping for).

The collection by Half Full that inspired store owner Richa Kanoi to bring on the candyfloss hung in there really chirpy and carnival-like. A few new designers have also been introduced this season. The offerings include some nice, simple handwoven designs by Akaaro, clutches and accessories by 500 BC and beautiful beaded trinkets by Sweta Agarwala. Other highlights on the racks are saris by Shambhavi Khaitan, sober fusion wear by Swapan More and a bag full of goodies by accessory designer Ritika Sachdeva. All fun and fab!

Sabya’s will-ing

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week has finally succeeded in luring Calcutta designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee to its ramp. And in true Sabya style, he will not only be participating but presenting the finale on April 10. The designer’s last Delhi date, a resounding one, was during Pearls Couture Week (with Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan at the event in picture above). Was Delhi too tempting again? “It’s not about temptation. I have a stand-alone store in Delhi and it’s logical for me to show there. They have been inviting me for the last three years but I couldn’t commit because of my films. This year I don’t have too many films and I’m able to finally take time out,” he told t2. But before WLIFW, there’s Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai on March 11. Watch this space for more!

Glimpses from Saturday night’s Seagram’s Blenders Pride fashion extravaganza in association with t2

Indraneil Sengupta and Shazahn Padamsee stopped the show in white. While Abhishek gave the Autograph star a laser-cut tee, a linen jacket and a pair of Jodhpurs, Alyque Padamsee’s daughter looked princess pretty in a flowy chanderi skirt and corset. Together they turned a head too many. Held at Fortune Select Loudon on Loudon Street, the fashion walk marked the launch of Abhishek Dutta’s spring-summer range. “I have packed in a lot of ivory and beiges with hints of coral pinks,” smiled Abhishek. Laser-cut T-shirts, ganjee dresses, jackets in linen and cotton jacquard were part of the collection;
