A team of CID officers rescued a 14-year-old girl from Singur on Monday, nearly six months after she had gone missing from Ghatal in West Midnapore.
Priyanka Dutta (name changed) was in the Kismat Apurbapur house of Rajiv Mirdha, the 22-year-old who had allegedly kidnapped her. Rajiv was not home.
The cops arrested Rajiv’s father, mother and younger brother and brought them to the CID headquarters at Bhabani Bhavan in Alipore. Rajiv was arrested later when he turned up at the CID headquarters.
The youth, who earns a living by embroidering clothes, has been charged with kidnapping Priyanka while his parents and younger brother with abetment and criminal conspiracy.
According to police, Rajiv used to stay near Priyanka’s house in Ghatal. The two developed a relationship and went missing on July 23 last year.
They first went to Digha, then to Mumbai and a few other places before returning to Singur. Priyanka’s parents had lodged an FIR with Ghatal police station against Rajiv.
