Players enjoy Horn talk, says Kirsten

Bangalore: “The players enjoy what Mike Horn says, which is why we invited him here... He’s been phenomenal in his field,” Team India coach Gary Kirsten told The Telegraph.

Speaking on Friday evening, Kirsten added: “Mike talks of his experiences (as an adventurer) and the challenges he has overcome... The players liked their first exposure to him, a year ago, which is why he has spent a few days with us before the World Cup.”

Horn, 44, hasn’t just spoken to the players behind closed doors, but was very active during nets both on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.

Asked if he had plans to get Horn over again, possibly before the knockout stage of the tournament, Kirsten said: “No... In fact, we don’t intend inviting anybody.”

Horn has travelled around the world alone (in 17 months), sans motorised transport, and completed the circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle without anybody for company.
