Aamir the bad man in D:3

If a single SMS could keep you going for the next two years, this one was it. A one-line info that makes you wait for December 2012. The message? “It’s official! Aamir Khan will play the baddie in YRF’s Dhoom:3.”

We dug deep, made a few phone calls and got the dope. According to our source, Shah Rukh Khan had been approached for the same role by Yash Raj Films but since he was doing a negative character in Don 2, he didn’t want to play another baddie in Dhoom:3.

So enter Aamir Khan, who had earlier worked with Yash Raj in Parampara and Fanaa. Aamir thought long and hard about playing a bad guy and then said YES!

Dhoom is a great franchise, most entertaining and full of fun,” said Aamir. “Every time I hear the theme tune of Dhoom it brings a swing to my step. Also, it is indeed a pleasure to be working with Yash Raj once again.”

With Sanjay Gadhvi, the director of the first two Dhoom films, no longer with Yash Raj Films, Dhoom:3 will be directed by Tashan maker Vijay Krishna Acharya, better known as Victor in the industry. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will reprise their roles of Jai and Ali in the third film.

“Victor’s script really won me over and I look forward to working with him, sharing screen space with Jai and Ali, and, of course, working with Yashji and Adi once again,” said Aamir.

Yashji himself is delighted to have Aamir back on board. “It’s a great pleasure to have Aamir working with YRF once again,” says Chopra. “It’s even more special that he will be doing Dhoom:3. Adi and Victor have worked over a year to bring out, what I can now confidently say, is possibly one of the best scripts coming out of YRF and I am sure that with Aamir and Adi together, they will create magic to give our audience one of the most exciting films they have ever seen.”

Dhoom:3 will begin shooting end of this year and is slated for a 2012 Christmas release.
