Teacher death

Kokrajhar, Jan. 18: Schoolteacher Diren Basumatary, 48, died in an accident at Kanaliapum under Mushalpur police station in Assam’s Baksa district late last evening. He died on the spot after being hit by a speeding vehicle.

AGP demand

Guwahati: The AGP on Tuesday demanded an independent inquiry by a sitting judge of Gauhati High Court to probe the alleged irregularities in declaration of statements of assets by chief minister Tarun Gogoi and his ministers.

Bus accident

Dhubri: Two passengers died on the spot while 13 were injured when a Dhubri-bound bus from Guwahati toppled on NH 31 at Tatpara in Dhubri on Monday.
