Your fashion resolution for the new year?
I think fashion should be comfort and not an effort. I never make any resolutions for fashion or otherwise because I know I cannot keep them!
How do you manage to keep your skin glowing through winter?
By just drinking lots of water because in the winter you get very dehydrated.
You have sported them all — Dolce & Gabbana, Cavalli, Burberry Prorsum, Dior. Any favourites?
I don’t really have favourites in terms of designers. I prefer clothes that fit me. That’s more important rather than sporting a particular designer. If the outfit doesn’t look nice on you then what’s the point?
No favourite designer for Indian clothes either?
It doesn’t have to be a particular designer. I prefer Manish’s (Malhotra) clothes because I think he makes amazing saris. And Gaurav (Gupta) because I am very comfortable in his clothes as well, and Abu Jani. It really depends upon the outfit.
Most fashion-forward movie you have acted in?
I like Dostana of all my films. It was really my style — very subtle and yet very fashionable. Bold coloured dresses... I think it was very inherently my style.
What is it that you feel you look best in?
I think I look nice in a sari and I can carry a dress also really well. At the same time, jeans and shorts also work. I think it really depends on your comfort level. But the outfit has a lot to do with your mood, you know. Some days you just want to dress in a sari or you feel blue or just feel red!
What kind of a shopper are you?
I hate shopping actually! Yes, I do. My stylist gets clothes for me. I like shopping for DVDs, books, gadgets and things like that. Clothes is something I don’t like shopping for. But I love shopping for shoes, I am very fond of shoes. I like to be comfortable. So on a normal day, I would wear jeans and a shirt or jeans and a shirt with a jacket. I keep it very casual.
How about accessories?
I think a great bag is a very important part of your accessories. I am a very book-bag kind of a person, like a rucksack or sling bag. I am a little sporty like that.
The most overused accessory you possess?
Well, I have this very beautiful pair of Louboutins shoes. They are very simple and very dainty, with just two straps of crystals. And they are my favourite pair because they go with Indian, western, anything. I think they are about six months old.
Are you a jewellery person?
I am a very diamond kind of a girl. I don’t like to accessorise heavily, I am a very minimal jewellery person. So I would just wear my solitaire earrings or a diamond bracelet. I prefer clean.
The most cherished piece in your box…
My solitaires. I like subtle jewellery.
What’s your latest gizmo?
I recently got myself a Nokia N8. I carry all my music on my phone, and on my laptop as well. I am a huge Apple person, with my iPad and my laptop and all of that.
