RTI alert to AIIMS

New Delhi, Jan. 17 (PTI): The health ministry has told the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) that RTI applications related to the Prime Minister’s health should not be handled by the institute. Rather, such queries should be forwarded to the ministry so that suitable replies could be provided.

The government’s decision to invite Dr Rama Kant Panda of Mumbai-based Asian Heart Institute to perform bypass surgery on Manmohan Singh at AIIMS in 2009 had led to a number of RTI queries.

The crew was arrested last week by the Somalian coastguard while transporting charcoal from Kismayo, the country’s southern port.
