The manager of Dena Bank’s College Street branch was arrested on Sunday evening for allegedly molesting a woman who had applied to the branch for a personal loan.
In a complaint lodged with North Port police station, the woman said that Rahul Pandey had asked her to meet him at Millennium Park on Sunday evening to discuss her loan application.
“Pandey, in his early 50s, had telephoned the 35-year-old woman on Saturday and said he needed to meet her to talk about her application for a personal loan of Rs 1 lakh. He told her that the application would be processed quickly if she met him on Sunday evening,” said an officer.
When the woman, a north Calcutta resident, met Pandey at the park, he suggested that they sit down for a chat.
After some time, other visitors heard her scream and gathered around the two. She told them that Pandey had touched her “inappropriately”.
The crowd accompanied the two to North Port police station, where the woman lodged her complaint.
“He was arrested on the basis of the complaint. A case has been started against him,” said an officer.
