Bus falls in ditch
Motihari, Jan. 15:
Nearly two dozen passengers were seriously injured when an overloaded private bus owned fell in a roadside ditch near Lalbegia Ghat bridge, on Saturday afternoon. ll the injured passengers were admitted to the Sadar hospital and several other nursing homes in the town, where the condition of three people is stated to be critical. The bus had left Motihari bus stand around 1.30pm for Ghorasahan. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver lost control over the bus that led to the accident. Station house officer of Motihari Muffassil police station Ravi Kumar confirmed the accident.

Patna:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday caught a senior official of State Bank of India (SBI), Ajay Kumar Sinha, red-handed while he was taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 from one Umesh Kumar. The sleuths of the anti-corruption wing of the CBI laid a trap following a complaint lodged by Kumar with the Patna unit of the investigating agency. Kumar had alleged that Sinha, the deputy manager of the Gandhi Maidan branch of the bank, was demanding Rs 1.2 lakh as bribe to sanction him a loan of Rs 20 lakh.

: The agriculture department on Saturday organised a workshop on “Importance and easy availability of hybrid seed in increasing the productivity” to make farmers aware of the use of hybrid seeds. Agriculture minister Narendra Singh said the state government has resolved to work towards the financial development of farmers. atna:- Patna district magistrate Jitendra Kumar Sinha today inspected various anganbari kendras to get the first hand account of take home ration distribution centres. During the inspection, Sinha reached an anganbari kendra situated at Kurjibalu which was being run from a hut. The DM directed the child development project officer to shift the anganbairi kendra to a nearby community development centre so that children should not face any difficulty. He also listened songs, counting and alphabets of English.

Bihar’s food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Saturday inaugurated the Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight 2011 at a function organised by oil industry in association with PCRA at Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir. atna:- Vedanta Foundation, a charitable organization fully financially supported by Vedanta group of companies for all its social welfare programme, is providing free blankets to the winter affected people through winter relief camps at six block in five districts of Bihar. Around 24,000 affected people would be benefited by these camps. The company would be conducting this camp with the help and coordination of the respective block development officers.
