Smooth sail for NISA
- Defending champions share lead with Tiddim Road

Imphal, Jan. 14: North Imphal Sporting Association maintained their winning streak, defeating Anouba Imagi Mangal by a solitary goal in the second leg of the 5th Manipur State League at Khuman Lampak main stadium.

The win propelled defending champions North Imphal Sporting Association to 38 points along with Tiddim Road Athletic Union to share the top slot.

However, Tiddim Road have the edge, as they are yet to play their 17th round match.

Anouba Imagi Mangal today played aggressively, seeking the equaliser till the final moments but their forward did not click today.

Anouba Imagi Mangal started off on a strong note but North Imphal Sporting Association held their nerve to render the first half goalless.

NISA’s relentless efforts paid off in the 68th minute, as skipper N. Jimmy Singh latched on to a loose ball from a penalty edge melee and beat the offside trap to tap home an easy goal.

NISA skipper N. Jimmy Singh and teammate K. Reagan were awarded yellow cards in the match.

In another match, Southern Sporting Union came up with a two-goal victory against Youth Welfare Club. Southern Sporting Union, who had a lacklustre showing with a goalless draw in their last match, found their rhythm and looked determined from the word go. Southern Sporting skipper S. Shanta Singh sparked fetched the opening goal in the ninth minute and Kh. Minthing slammed home the winning goal in the 18th minute.
