Birla plant in Assam

New Delhi, Jan. 13: Birla Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Assam Mineral Development Corporation to set up a 1-million-tonne cement plant in Assam. The Rs 450-crore joint venture project is proposed to be set up at Umrangshu in Assam.

New Delhi, Jan. 13: Infrastructure finance company IL&FS today became the new promoters of Maytas Properties, the company once promoted by Satyam founder B. Ramalinga Raju, following an approval by the Company Law Board.

Tata rejig

New Delhi, Jan. 13: The Tata group today rejigged the top management of some of its group firms with Tata Communications head N. Srinath replacing Tata Teleservices managing director Anil Kumar Sardana, who will take charge of Tata Power.

San Francisco, Jan. 13: News Corp is exploring options for its MySpace website, including a sale or a spinout, the company said on Wednesday, a day after the former social networking high-flyer slashed nearly half of its staff.

RIL results

Mumbai, Jan. 13: Reliance Industries will announce its third-quarter numbers on January 21. RIL’s board of directors will meet on January 21 to consider and approve the unaudited financial results for the quarter.
