Northern fog hits ECR train services

Bhubaneswar: Train services have been disrupted in the East Coast Railway's jurisdiction owing to heavy fog across northern India and poor visibility causing abnormally late running of trains. he Puri-New Delhi Neelachal Express scheduled to leave Puri at 10.55am on Sunday has been rescheduled to leave Puri at 1am on Monday. Similarly, the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express scheduled to leave Bhubaneswar at 11.30am on Sunday has been rescheduled to leave Bhubaneswar at 06.30am on Monday. Also, due to the large number of trains running late from New Delhi and other parts of northern India, at least three trains have been cancelled, an official statement said. he Puri-New Delhi Purusottam Express scheduled to leave Puri on Sunday at 09.50pm was cancelled from Puri. The Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad Garib Rath Express scheduled to leave Bhubaneswar at 08.10pm on Sunday was also cancelled. The Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express scheduled to leave Bhubaneswar at 09.15a.m on Monday, has been cancelled.

BJD probe

BHUBANESWAR: The BJD on Sunday started a probe on the clash held between two groups of the party at its Save Orissa meeting in Erasama. While one section belonged to the Jagatsinghpur MLA Bishnu Charan Das, the other faction allegedly belonged to the Paradip MLA and agriculture minister Damodor Rout. t the meeting on Saturday, supporters of Rout had questioned the organisers for not inviting their leader. “Disciplinary action will be initiated after the report reached at the party,” said BJD senior leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra.

MLA trouble

BHUBANESWAR: Police have registered a case against Champua MLA Jitu Patnaik for allegedly misbehaving with tribal women. One of the complainants, Satyabhama Dehuri said: “The group had come for a party on January 2. When they started cooking inside a local temple, we started protesting. Thereafter the irritated MLA and his supporters misbehaved with us.” owever, MLA Patnaik said: “It was a political conspiracy against me. The local congress MLA is trying to defame me.”

Sex racket

BHUBANESWAR: Berhampur police have busted a sex racket in the Totasahi area. Four youths including two women were nabbed from the spot. Objectionable materials were also seized from their possession. The youths had been involved in the racket for quite some time under the patronage of the house owner and more such raids will be conducted in near future, police said.

Six killed

BHUBANESWAR: Six persons including four women were killed and one was left critically injured in a road accident at Baraguda in Bargarh on Sunday.
