Goods train derails

Bihar, Jan. 8 (PTI): A goods train derailed at Muthani station in Gaya-Mughalsarai section of East Central Railway on Saturday, disrupting rail traffic on the route for several hours.Around 19 wagons of a goods train laden with coal derailed as the train reached Muthani station in Bihar’s Kaimur district early this morning, railway sources said.

Rajnath visit

Patna: Former BJP president Rajnath Singh will visit the state for a day on Monday. Bihar BJP spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh said Rajnath would land here at 12 noon and meet Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. Mayukh also said the BJP national general secretary and co-incharge of the party’s Bihar affairs Dharmendra Pradhan and national organisation secretary Saudan Singh will visit the state on January 11.

Meeting

Patna: A meeting of the district-level surveillance and monitoring committee was conducted on Saturday at Patna Collectorate to review the progress made on decisions taken in the last meet. The meeting, which was presided by MP Ranjan Prasad Yadav, was attended by Bihar food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak and many legislators of the district. Deputy development commissioner said the block development officers and programme officers of MNREGA had been directed to stay at their headquarters. The officers would be out on the field on all working days except Tuesday and Friday.

Red raid

Gaya (PTI): Armed activists of Revolutionary Communist Centre (RCC) set a JCB machine of a private road construction firm on fire at Gangati village in Gaya district. Police said over 50 RCC activists raided the office of the firm and set fire to the machine there. Raids were on in the area to apprehend the culprits.
