Glare on techie text to brother

Calcutta, Jan. 1: A software engineer missing since last morning had vented his “frustration over some personal issues” in a New Year message texted to his brother on the night of December 30, police said today.

Abhra Gupta, 28, who works for an IT company in Sector V, had left his Ultadanga home for a walk.

Although the police did not reveal the contents of Abhra’s message, sources in the force said the text was “somewhat philosophical in nature”.

“From the contents of the message sent to his brother (Arka), it appears that Abhra was depressed about something. He expressed his frustration over some personal issues,” a source said. The police have asked Arka, 23, who is pursuing an animation course in Ahmedabad, to come to Calcutta for questioning.

“He had no reason to be depressed. We were looking for a match for him,” a family member said.

The police said Abhra’s family had not received any ransom calls yet.
