On the cards

Saina Nehwal

Badminton player

In the coming year I expect youngsters in this country to take up sports seriously. I urge the youth to follow stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar, Roger Federer and the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus. These people can teach us true commitment. For myself, I wish the Almighty will give me strength to win in all the tournaments I play because winning gives me immense pleasure while losing inspires me to work harder. My game has now become my life.

Shekhar Ravjiani

Music director

I am looking forward to savouring the success of the film Tees Maar Khan, for which Vishal and I have composed music. One of the tracks, Sheila Ki Jawani, is already a chart-topper. Another thing that I am looking forward to in 2011 is a vacation with my family.

Kallol Datta

Designer

Iam looking forward to trudging home wasted from a party on the first morning of 2011. This year I hope people here finally get the idea of a ‘personal space’ in a public place. Be it keeping minimum bumper-to-bumper distance, not breathing down someone’s neck at a crowded bar or keeping phones silent. If there’s no change, my chemist can look forward to more pepper spray sale, courtesy yours truly.

Sunidhi Chauhan

Singer

I am looking forward to doing some good songs in the coming year. I hope it will be as hectic a year as 2010 was. I want to do even better work. When I wake up each morning I only think of the new day. I treat each day as a fresh new start, and as such, my thoughts never go over to the larger spectrum of an entire year. However, the one thing that I do want to do in the coming year is to go on a nice vacation with my entire family. I would like to go somewhere like Manali. We did go on a vacation three years ago but I feel it is high time we took a holiday as a family again.
