Action against squatters

Patna: Patna High Court on Thursday directed the state’s chief secretary to take action against illegal encroachments and file a report of the action taken within 90 days.

The division bench asked for a prompt action against vendors, shop-owners and musclemen who have illegally encroached upon the public property.

Promotion

Patna: The government has promoted seven sub-judges presently working in various districts, to the post of additional district and sessions judge of fast-track courts.

Camp

Patna: A week-long National Integration Camp organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Patna concluded on Thursday. Around 150 people attended the camp.

Robbery

Patna: Criminals robbed Rs 21,000 cash and ornaments worth Rs 21,000 from the house of one Anjula, a teacher at the Loyola School.

Eyewash

Patna: Bihar Congress chief spokesman Premchandra Mishra has termed the Nitish government’s announcement to constitute a commission for the poor among the upper castes as an “eyewash”.

Protest

Patna: Bihar Youth Advocate Welfare Committee, Patna would protest the formation of evening courts at Ambedkar Chowk near Patna High Court on December 20, committee chairman Arvind Kumar Malakar said. He said these courts lack electricity and there is also a security problem around the premises.

Postponed

Patna: Saroj Kumar, a head clerk in the Bihar State Electricity Board, was caught red-handed by the sleuths of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Samastipur district on Thursday while accepting Rs 1,500 as bribe.

Criminal killed

Patna: Dreaded criminal Beerchandra Rai was killed in an encounter on Thursday evening at Sumerganj village in Vaishali.
