Jamshedpur, Dec. 12: Marriages are made in heaven, er on stage!
Playing matchmaker, Jharkhand Byahut, Jaiswal, Shaundik Kalyan Samiti today organised a Vaivaahik Parichay Sammelan at Michael John Auditorium.
The meet saw a host of prospective brides and grooms — all belonging to the three castes of Byahut, Jaiswal and Shaundik — introducing themselves on the stage. Interested parties can later get in touch with each other and complete the formalities.
This was the fifth such matchmaking gathering organised by the samiti in the past seven years. About 400 participants registered themselves at the event, which was inaugurated by minister of excise and disaster management Gopal Krishna Patar and Jamshedpur (West) MLA Banna Gupta.
The samiti had also set up three kiosks outside the auditorium in case the boys and girls wanted to talk in private.
“It’s difficult to find a perfect match these days, thanks to lack of time. Also at times, you don’t get right information on phone. Hence, our organisation, which comprises members of Byahut, Jaiswal and Shaundik, took this initative to organise marriage meets, where families of both prospective grooms and brides can come together and make a choice,” said Lalan Prasad, a member of Jharkhand Byahut, Jaiswal, Shaundik Kalyan Samiti.
“I want a highly educated daughter-in-law, probably an engineer or a doctor, as my son is quite well-placed. He is banker in the US,” said D.P. Sah, one of the participants.
Om Anand had come from Khagaria, Bihar, to find a groom for his daughter, Anisha.
“We are in search of a good family, but have not tasted much success till now. As soon as I came to know about the gathering, I came here with my wife and daughter. I believe the meet will offer us a lot of choices,” said Anand.
