Trade body to hold AGM on Dec. 28

Jamshedpur, Dec. 12: The annual general body meeting of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has been scheduled for December 28.

Chief minister Arjun Munda has also been invited to attend the meeting to address traders and businessmen.

The meeting, which will take up several issues faced by industry and trade in the region, will also have a significant absence: elections.

The oldest and largest trade body of the region will hold its election after two years.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Suresh Sonthalia, SCCI general secretary said that several resolutions aimed at betterment of trade and industry would be passed at the annual general meeting which will take place at Chambers Bhavan.

He said that various committees of SCCI, such as trade and commerce, public relations and welfare as well as industry, have been asked to chalk out their priorities, which would be discussed along with purchasing policy, sales tax and infrastructure development.

According to Sonthalia, SCCI executive body members would meet tomorrow to finalise issues for the meeting.

Notably, SCCI had called an extraordinary general body meeting of its members in June to approve amendments in its constitution. It was decided that the executive committee should hold office for two years instead of a year. No office bearer should hold the same post for the second consecutive term, the amendment also stated.
