Mongolian movie mania
To mark the 55th anniversary of India-Mongolia diplomatic relations, Cine Central, Calcutta, in association with Embassy of Mongolia, New Delhi, Consulate of Mongolia, Calcutta and Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre, hosts a two-day Mongolian film festival, to be inaugurated this evening by Damdinglin Demberei, Chairman (speaker) of the State Great Hurai (parliament) of Mongolia. Justice Shyamal Kumar Sen, president of Cine Central, Calcutta, will preside over the inaugural function. The Mongols (a scene from the film appears here), a renowned Mongolian film, will be screened on the occasion. Directed by Sergei Bodrov, this epic tale explores the early life of Genghis Khan, ruler of one of the largest empires in history. The first part of a planned trilogy following the life of Timojin, more famously known as Genghis Khan, it offers an intriguing look into a time and place little seen on film.
