Truck collides with school bus

Bhubaneswar: Around 30 children travelling in a school bus were lucky to escape without injuries as a truck coming from the opposite side hit their vehicle at Pahal on National Highway-5 on Monday afternoon. owever, the driver of the bus sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Cuttack for treatment. He was identified as Santosh Kumar Nayak (46). raffic on the highway was disrupted for about two hours following the mishap. olice said the bus carrying children from the Delhi Public School was heading towards Bhubaneswar when it was hit by the truck that jumped the road divider and skidded into the wrong lane after its driver lost balance. he police have registered a case against the driver of the truck who has been arrested. “He will be produced in court tomorrow,” said a police officer.

Artists day

Bhubaneswar: Shilpi Diwas or artists day, organised for the first time in the state by Orissa Modern Art Gallery, was inaugurated on Monday at the Adivasi Ground. n exhibition showcasing the paintings of about 500 children from across the country was held. he three-day celebrations would culminate on December 8 with the felicitation of eminent artists belonging to different fields. Some of the artistes to be felicitated include Odissi danseuse Kumkum Mohanty, theatre personality Kartik Chandra Rath, musician Damodar Rath and fine arts professional Ajit Keshari Ray.

Dhauli fest

Bhubaneswar: The Dhauli Mahotsav will be held at the foothills of Dhauli from December 12 to 14 . he mahotsav will showcase a wide range of performing and creative items including classical dances and music of India and allied art forms of Orissa. round 300 artistes from different disciplines will perform on different days of the festival.

Land dispute

Berhampur: Leaders of the Lok Sangram Manch (LSM) on Monday did not turn up to the office of the sub collector, Bhanjanagar, for a tripartite meeting to solve the land dispute in Sorada block. The meeting was to be held between the sub collector Pabitra Mandal, CPM and LSM leaders at 3 pm. However, it was later cancelled. We were not invited to attend any meeting,” said Bhal Chandra Sarangi, leader of the LSM.
