Minister murder plot foiled
Banka: The Banka police unearthed a plot to eliminate a minister in the Nitish Kumar government following the arrest of four Naxalites, including an area commander Taromandal, from Khadagpur police station area near Munger district on Saturday. DGP Neel Mani said that two pistols, 30 SLR cartridges and Rs 45,000 besides Naxalite literature were seized in the raids. The other arrested Maoists were identified as Ranjeet Roy, Vinod Murmu and Geeta.

Patna: The special vigilance court on Saturday ordered to issue a showcause notice against the then Rajbhasha director Dhrub Narayan Chaudhary and his family members in connection with a disproportionate assets case. The court has fixed January 3,2011 as the next date of hearing.

Patna: CBI special Judge Dhirendra Pandey on Saturday remanded Raju Kumar Singh, an officer of the State Bank of India, and broker Ramprakash Bihari to judicial custody till December 13 in connection with a bribery case.

Patna: Cancer Awareness Society today organised an anti-tobacco and cancer awareness programme in Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bankipore to spread anti-tobacco and cancer awareness message among the students.

- Patna: To cater the need of the passenger East Central Railway is going to start two new train from 6th December 2010 which include Darbhanga-Kolktaa Express (5233/5234), twice in one week and Shalimar-Gorakhpur Express (5021/5022), once in a week. Darbhanga-Kolktaa Express (5233/5234) will run every Wednesday-Saturday from Darbhanga and every Thursday-Sunday from Kolkta. Darbhanga-Kolktaa Express will depart from Darbhanga at 4:10 pm and will reach Kolkta next day at 3:15 am. Similarly Shalimar-Gorakhpur Express will depart Gorakhpur every Monday 4:20 pm and will reach Shalimar by 8:25 next day.
- Patna: The Danapur railway divisional officials have ordered a probe into theft of sugar worth over Rs 9 crore from the railway wagon yard of the Fatuha railway station recently. A case was registered with Bakhtiyarpur government railway police station against 10 persons, including in-charge of the railway goods yard Umesh Choudhary. Police said that 42 wagons of sugar were dispatched by Chennai based T.A Sugar Company Ltd for Shubham Sugar Agency, Patna. The sugar was reportedly sold to a Muzaffarpur based Shyam Sugar Agency and the money were collected by the accused. The accused are reported to be absconding after the theft came to light, a deputy superintendent of police (rail) said.
