Ulfa cadre surrenders

Dibrugarh, Nov. 27: Ulfa cadre Jayanta Moran alias Juganta, 19, of Bokapathar village under Pengeri police station in Tinsukia district, surrendered before security forces on Saturday. He deposited a 9mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition, 2kg TNT, some fuse wire, four detonators and two Chinese hand grenades.

Calf rescued

Jorhat: A five-year-old elephant calf was rescued by experts from the Centre for Wildlife Conservation and Rehabilitation from a drain at Lokhoujan tea estate near Kaziranga on Saturday. The calf was trapped in the drain on Friday night.

Arrested

Dhubri: Yasin Ali, 31, of Hazarihat village under Sukchar police station of Dhubri district was apprehended by the Border Security Force with fake currency worth Rs 14,000 from his house in Hazarihat today. Hazidur Ali, also involved in the racket, managed to escape.

Body found

Dhubri: The decomposed body of Jahirul Haque, 29, of Madhusoumari under Gauripur police station of Dhubri district was dug out from a burial in Malatikhama village on Saturday. Haque was abducted by an unidentified man on October 7 this year.

Recovered

Guwahati: The body of Mahesh Ghimire, hailing from Nepal, was recovered from Santipur village under Dhekiajuli police station in Sonitpur district on Saturday. olice said the body was probably buried in the area about 20 days back.
