Romantic getaway

The holiday season beckons and there’s nothing like a romantic getaway to somewhere exotic. Langkawi, the 99-island archipelago off Malaysia’s western coast, has all the ingredients for a great vacation. Taj Holidays is offering a Romantic Rendezvous two-night and three-day stay at the 5-star Rebak Island Resort. You’ll have to shell out about Rs 23,676 for a Superior Garden View Room, Rs 26,257 for a Superior Sea View Room, Rs 30,848 for Deluxe Sea View Room and Rs 32,274 for a Deluxe Villa on double occupancy basis. It includes accommodation for two, breakfast, return airport transfers and boat transfers to Port Langkasuka, a romantic dinner at the Boardwalk overlooking the Marina or at the Senari Beach and more. The package is valid till March 31, 2011, but you’ll have to pay a surcharge if you book between December 23 and January 5. Call 1 800 111 825 or write to reservations@tajhotels.com for details.

Holiday hotspot

Sounak Chattopadhyay, vocalist

My favourite holiday destination is Sikkim because the Himalayan belt really fascinates me. I have been to west Sikkim with my family thrice and what amazes me is the exciting biodiversity. The other place which I have been to this year is New Hampshire in the United States. I loved the catch-phrase of New Hampshire which is ‘Live Free or Die’. The best time to visit here is during autumn when you can witness the golden colour of the fall. It was a riot of colours everywhere! I also want to go to the Grand Canyon soon.
