Guwahati, Nov. 26: Unseeded Shaikh Abdullah sailed into the boys’ singles finals after toppling second seed Vilasier Khate 6-1, 6-2 at the ITF Juniors under-18 meet at the All Assam Tennis Association complex, Chachal here today.

Spaniard Carol Augustine Benito scripted another upset in the girls’ singles semi-finals, outplaying second seed Shweta Rana 2-6, 6-1, 7-5. Fourth seed Rutuja Bhosale toiled hard to defeat eighth seed Sai Samhita Chamarthi 7-5, 0-6, 7-5. Seventh seed Vishwesh Sinha moved to the final with a 6-3, 6-0 win over K. Pradeep Reddy in the other boys’ singles semi-final.

Vishwesh teamed up with Rajat Maheshwari to defeat the American duo of Arnav and Arsav Mohanty 7-6 (5), 6-1 for the boys’ doubles crown. In the girls’ doubles finals, Nova Patel and Shweta Rana posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Namita Bal and Sansitha Nandakumar.
