Chhapra, Nov. 22: RJD legislator Ramanuj Prasad today sustained minor injuries when the activists of his party and those of the BJP involved in a scuffle over alleged rigging during repelling at a booth at Farhada village in Sonepur.
The agitators also broke the window screen of the car of Sonepur block head Munni Devi at booth number 24 at Farhada village when the repolling was underway.
RJD’s Rabri Devi and Vinay Singh of the BJP are pitted against each other in the Assembly constituency.
RJD had approached Election Commission (EC) accusing the BJP of rigging. After discussions with the returning officer, EC had ordered repoll at this booth.
Sources said that Prasad with others were cajoling the voters to vote in favour of a particular candidate. BJP supporters alleged that RJD workers were distributing money among the voters and came forward to oppose it. A scuffle ensued, in which Ramanuj sustained injuries.
Sonepur DSP Rajendra Prasad Rajak said: “A scuffle did occur but nobody was injured.” The agitated mob raised slogans against the DSP also.
