Academy launch

Calcutta: The ICC Global Cricket Academy (ICC GCA), based at Dubai Sports City, was officially launched Tuesday, with the world-class, state-of-the-art facilities, according to a media release.

Present at the launch were ICC president Sharad Pawar, ICC vice-president Alan Isaac and several members of the ICC board as well as ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat.

Pak spat

Karachi: Differences between the national cricket coach Waqar Younis and chief selector Mohsin Khan came out in the open Tuesday, during the hearing of the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) on sports in Islamabad.

Karachi: Pakistani lawmakers in the NASC on sports did not carry out their threat of resigning in 24 hours, after earlier claiming that they would step down if Ijaz Butt remained PCB chief.

Karachi: The PCB Tuesday shot a letter to one-day captain Shahid Afridi for questioning the selection process on a TV channel show.
