Food inflation moves up
New Delhi, Sept. 30: Food inflation shot past 16 per cent for the week ended September 18, prompting finance minister Pranab Mukherjee to express concern over the rising prices of essentials. “Inflation has increased and particularly the number of food items, such as jawar or bajra and pulses, fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs have increased. This is an area of concern,” Mukherjee said.
Mumbai, Sept. 30: Shareholders of AstraZeneca Pharma India have rejected the move by its parent firm to delist its Indian subsidiary by acquiring its outstanding shares. The number of votes cast by shareholders in favour of a special resolution moved by the firm was less than two times the number of votes cast against it.
