Highway robbers nabbed
Patna: A gang of 15 robbers was arrested from Gaya and Naugachia districts on Thursday. Illegal firearms were seized from them.
A team from Dhobi and Barachatti police stations nabbed 10 highway robbers and recovered a country-made carbine and five rounds of ammunition from them. Another team from Bhawanipur police station arrested five robbers. Naugachia. Naugachia superintendent of police Vivek Singh confirmed the arrests.
Patna: State Bank of India disbursed Rs 94 lakh amongst 320 beneficiaries at the Madhubani town hall. The beneficiaries comprised 16,91,537 artisans. It involved credit outlay of Rs 53.3 lakh, Rs 4.1 lakh and Rs 30.45 lakh for painting, handicraft, carpentry and embroidery. Inaugurating the function Ashish Kumar Roy, general manager NW-1 of SBI, Patna circle, said that the SBI is committed to further development of art and culture of Mithila as well as the artisan.
Gaya: Former Gaya MP Krishna Kumar Chaudhary resigned on Thursday as the state’s chief of the Scheduled Caste wing of the BJP. Chaudhary, who won the Gaya parliamentary seat in 1998 as the BJP candidate, has resigned to protest the “complete marginalisation of Parsis and Mahadalits who have been loyal to the BJP since the Jana Sangh days”. Chaudhuri said: “The party has not even given a single seat to the Parsis even though they have consistently supported the BJP.”
Patna: Five Left parties, namely RCP, Forward Bloc, SUCI, MCPI(U) and CPI(ML), held a joint news meet in city on Wednesday and said other parties in the state do not have any concrete issue. A representative of the Left parties said other parties indulge in character assassination. SUCI secretary Arun Kumar Singh said the Nitish Kumar-led government had failed to live up to its promises.
Patna: Six girls were selected in the campus interview conducted by IBM Daksh in JD Women’s College. Around 75 students, most of them from BCA and MBA departments, appeared for the interview on Thursday. Professor Ranju Singh of the English department coordinated the whole event.
