Bokaro/Dhanbad, Sept. 9: CBI today questioned five employees of Bokaro Steel in connection with a probe it is conducting to unravel irregularities in promotions of 394 officials in 2008.
CBI officers led by inspector R.K. Mishra spent over four hours interrogating the five three of whom were promoted, while two others were allegedly denied promotions even though they made it to the first list.
The three who were promoted include two who work at the plants coke oven, while the third, S.K. Srivastav, has been transferred to Durgapur Steel Plant. Those who were denied promotions are Sheo Kumar Choubey and Siya Ram Singh.
According to sources in the investigating agency, the CBI is now getting ready to file a chargesheet which it must do within September 11, 90 days from the day they filed an FIR in the case on June 11 under sections 120B and 420 of the IPC.
According to V.K. Singh, formerly CBI SP of Dhanbad now shifted to Patna, the agency was going through statements of senior officials who signed the promotion orders, but was now concentrating on a money trail that would lead to the prime culprits.
