Shillong, Aug. 31: The law-enforcers, Meghalaya Police football team, proved to be too strong for Laitumkhrah Sports Club today in the Shillong Premiere League held at Polo ground.
The police personnel defeated their opponents 2-0 in an extremely one-sided encounter.
MLP captain Kitkupar Kharshiing scored the opening goal for his team in the 38th minute of the game while Embhahmi Laloo scored in the 90th minute of the match. Kharshiing was later adjudged Man of the Match.
The police team, which dominated the game from start to finish, would have got more goals had there been good strikers.
While supporters of the Meghalaya police rejoiced, a disappointing factor in todays match was the announcement of the postponement of the league from tomorrow in view of the depletion of the pitch, thanks to the heavy monsoon.
