CRPF boss meets Naveen
BHUBANESWAR: CRPF special DG Subhash Joshi called on chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat on Monday and emphasised on the cooperation between the central forces and the Orissa police in Maoists-hit areas.
He also asked the chief minister to provide infrastructure like shelter for the forces in the Naxal-infested areas. A high-level meeting would be held under the chairmanship of chief secretary on Tuesday to discuss the issue. The meeting assumed significance as four people were killed by Maoists in the undivided Koraput district.
BHUBANESWAR: The twin-engine aircraft Piper Seneca V with a glass cockpit, the first of its kind in India, will arrive in the city by the end of September, according to sources in the Government Aviation Training Institute (Gati), Bhubaneswar.
he aircraft, which has been used only for 200 flying hours, will fly from the US to Bhubaneswar.
BHUBANESWAR: Stewart School, Unit VIII, Bhubaneswar, inaugurated the digital learning technology Educomp's SmartclassTM programme in the school on Monday. The school has installed the programme with interactive whiteboards in the school in 37 classrooms. Chief guest Sebak Ripathy, director, State Council of Research & Training, inaugurated the newly digitised classrooms. The guest of honour was Bishop Samson Das. The principals of about 30 schools from the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and other areas also attended a presentation on the significance of digital learning.
Paradip: A lovelorn couple ended their lives after their families opposed their marriage. The incident occurred in Sailo village. The village falls under the jurisdiction of Balikuda police station. Balikuda police retrieved the bodies of Bijoy Das and Meeta Jetty on Monday and registered a case of unnatural death.
