Ranchi, Aug. 21: In an apparent bid to kick start preparations for the 34th National Games, the core committee of the National Games Organising Committee (NGOC) today met the sports adviser to the governor, R.R. Prasad.
Comprising working chairman R.K. Anand, sports secretary Sukhdeo Singh, sports director Anurag Gupta, organising secretary S.M. Hashmi and NGOC secretary M.K. Pathak, the committee decided to resume preparations for the games on a war footing and purchase the necessary equipment as soon as possible.
The local games technical conduct committees of different state sports associations are to further visit the venues of their respective disciplines and submit a report on the same to the core committee at the earliest.
A meeting of the core committee with local technical conduct committees members along with representatives of state sports associations and construction companies, to decide on the take over of the stadiums, is scheduled on August 30.
Significantly, the chairman of the committee had earlier presided over a meeting at the NGOC secretariat with members of Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) following which it was decided that the final coaching camp for the Games would be held from October 15 to December 5.
The JOA had also decided to request the state sports secretary and director to ensure the availability of equipment that would be needed for the final phase of coaching and to appoint venue managers for all the venues.
The National Games are scheduled to begin in the state from December 9.
