Man shot
Two men on a bike shot Trinamul Congress supporter Rajesh Singh, 32, at Tata Gate around 8.30pm on Tuesday. Singh was returning home to Sodepur on his bike after dropping Titagarh Municipality chairman Prasanto Chowdhury at his home. Irate Trinamul supporters attacked police, injuring an officer.
Flight trouble
A Dhaka-bound Air India Express flight from Mumbai made a priority landing at Dum Dum airport on Tuesday evening because of a suspected snag.
Actress case
A high court division bench on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Manab Bose, a Chandernagore-based trader apprehending arrest in a criminal case lodged by actress Sandhya Roy. Roy had lodged a complaint last April accusing Bose of not returning Rs 12.5 lakh he had borrowed from her.
Vagabond
A vagabond was seen on the Metro Railway tracks at Rabindra Sarobar station on Tuesday afternoon. RPF officers removed him.
Train time
Passenger trains on the Kharagpur-Rourkela and Kharagpur-Adra sections will remain suspended at night till August 16.
Arrest
The owner of the JM Avenue house from which a cement chunk fell on Monday killing a pedestrian was arrested on Tuesday.
