WHO AM I

Born in 1933, I am an Indian economist. I am known for work on famine, welfare economics, and the mechanisms responsible for poverty and gender inequality. I have written books on these subjects. In 1998, I won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. The Time magazine listed me among 100 most influential people in 2010. Who am I?

Answer to last week’s question: William Dalrymple
