New GM of NFR

Guwahati, July 30: Keshav Chandra, an officer of the Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineering, has joined as the new general manager of Northeast Frontier Railway on Thursday.

Insurance

Guwahati: The family of a deceased Kaziranga National Park employee was handed over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh under the nationwide group accident insurance scheme for frontline staff, run by the Wildlife Trust of India in Kaziranga on Friday.

Guwahati: Chief Post Master General of Assam, postal circle, Monojit Kumar, said the Assam postal circle has registered an overall business growth of 79 per cent in rural postal life insurance.

Dhubri: Dhubri divisional forest officials seized a huge quantity of timber from Falimari char near Dhubri town.

Drowned

Dhubri: The body of a one-year-old baby, Narjima Khatoon of Jarabari village of Barpeta district, was fished out of a pond on Thursday night. She had accidently fallen into the pond.
