Monsoon must-do

The rains are not just about romance, Bollywood style. In our city, they’re as much about mucky streets & traffic snarls. If the prospect of wading through waterlogged Bylanes is forcing you to remain cooped up at home often, fret not. t2 lists some can-dos when the weather is just perfect for a day in

Reel thrill

Are you a movie buff? Then this is the perfect opportunity to take out that CD case and go into movie-binge mode. From oldest of classics to the latest spy-thrillers and mushy rom-coms, the choice is yours. Nothing like a movie marathon to beat the monsoon blues.

Flick pick

Assics: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Action/thriller: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Romance: My Blueberry Nights

Bollywood: Any SRK-Kajol film

Game time

For once your mom will be glad you are out of her hair and gaming your way to glory. So make the most of this god-given captivity, take out your gaming consoles and your joysticks, and unleash the gaming monster within you. Whatever takes your fancy, strategy games, first-person shooters or good ol’ RPGs (role playing games), drown your monsoon woes in gaming bliss.

Play thing

First Person Shooter: Doom3,

RPG: World of Warcraft

Racing: Need For Speed: Shift

Page-turner

Never have enough time or incentive to pull out that paperback from the shelf and catch up on some reading? Now you have both — endless time and the incentive of curling up with a hot cup of coffee and a nice novel. So what’s your genre?

Off the shelf

Fantasy: Rick Riordan, The Kane Chronicles, Book One: The Red Pyramid

Crime thriller: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest

Chicklit: Confessions of a Shopaholic

Hot pot

Nothing spells bliss on a rainy day better than biting into sizzling hot pakoras, beguni and aloo chop and sipping on cup after cup of tea. So go ahead, coax your mom to put on her chef’s apron.

Pamper time

Boys can do exactly what they please but for girls it is all about pamper time. So stop cribbing about being stuck indoors and take out your pedicure kit and give your tired feet a nice, clean scrubbing. Add a homespun manicure, facial and head massage to your to-do list, while you are at it.

Board war

Who says board games are for kids? Get mean and nasty with your moolah as you indulge in a round of Monopoly or bring out your inner artist as you scribble your way to first place in Pictionary. Nothing works as well as an animated round of board game bonding with the family on a grey day. And don’t be afraid to improvise and flex the rules to add a little more fun.

Do nothing

Slow down and chill. This monsoon, when venturing out is not an option, just relax and enjoy the pleasures of doing absolutely nothing, not even moving a limb. Sleep… sleep… and more blissful sleep!
