Calcutta: Former India opener Arun Lal is in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Colombo with dengue.

He has been running a temperature for the sixth day, on Tuesday. But in a text message to The Telegraph, Lal hoped that “the worst was over”, and he would soon be fine.

Lal is there on a television commentary assignment. He played 16 Tests for India and scored 729 runs at an average of 26.03. He also played 13 one-day Internationals.
