Train timing

Guwahati, July 26: The Rajdhani Express and the Howrah-Saraighat Express scheduled to leave Guwahati at 5.55am and 12.45 am respectively on Tuesday have been rescheduled at 7.05am and 4pm on the same day, an NFR release said today.

Teens drown

Mangaldoi: Three schoolgirls from Tangani tea estate drowned in Mangaldoi river near Bishnu Mandir on Tuesday.

Trio die

Sivasagar: Three persons drowned in a rivulet at Teok Rajabari in Sivasagar district on Sunday night. Their bodies were recovered on Monday.

Man arrested

Imphal: A man, who hurled a grenade at a medical store inside the RIMS, was caught by the people and handed over to police on Monday. The grenade failed to explode.

Trampled

Kokrajhar: A 45-year-old man, Lakhi Basumatary, was trampled by a tusker at No. 2 Koklabari adjoining the Manas National Park on Sunday.

Gutkha haul

Dibrugarh: Police recovered 10 sacks of gutkha from a Tinsukia-bound bus, after being tipped off by the members of Asom Jatiyabadi Yuba Parishad. The staff of the bus was detained for investigation.

Hunger strike

Dibrugarh: Fifty Dibrugarh University PG Students’ Union and the AASU members of Dibrugarh unit started a 50-hour hunger strike, demanding a rollback in the recent fee hike, at the main administrative building on Monday.

Lightning

Dhubri: A 12-year-old boy, Krishna Roy of Bijni town in Chirang district, died on the spot when lightning struck him on Monday.

Peddler held

Dhubri: A drug peddler, Atinur Ali of Madhusoulmari in Dhubri district, was arrested with a huge quantity of drugs from his house on Monday.
