Artists get a mouthpiece

Bhubaneswar, July 16: The world is growing smaller everyday, but communication with artists and art lovers has not been as efficient for the art fraternity in the state as they would have loved to. A city-based art magazine, however, is trying to improve this interaction.

Artfair, launched on Thursday by Suvadra Art Gallery, is trying to create a forum through the magazine, in which, the artists of the state and of various parts of South Asia and Europe would come together.

Published from Bhubane-swar, the magazine is aiming at making local artists aware of the scenario in the rest of the world. “We have included interviews of Oriya artists as well as international painters and sculptors. This will work as an interface between the art fraternity of distant places,” said editor of the magazine Surya Rath.

“It’s a good step forward for the Oriya art community,” said governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare releasing the first edition of the magazine.
