Norms on stock buying

New Delhi, July 15: Market regulator Sebi today allowed investors to place buy or sell orders on the stock exchanges before the opening of trade, a move which can tame volatility in the market. The pre-open session call auction will last for 15 minutes and will be introduced on a pilot basis. Meanwhile, Sebi also allowed stock exchanges to go for both physical and cash settlement in futures and options trading.

BSNL chief

New Delhi, July 15: The department of telecom has formed a six-member committee to select the chairman and managing director for state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited. The committee will be headed by cabinet secretary K.M. Chandrasekhar.

Fortis offer

Singapore/ New Delhi, July 15: Fortis Healthcare today said its estimated Rs 11,000-crore offer to acquire hospital chain Parkway would close on August 12. The company has dispatched the documents for its voluntary cash offer to the shareholders of Parkway.

Food inflation

New Delhi, July 15: Food inflation has inched up to 12.81 per cent for the week ended July 3, while fuel inflation shot up to 14.27 per cent.

Jet fuel price

New Delhi, July 15: State-owned oil firms today cut jet fuel or ATF prices by over three per cent on the back of easing international oil rates.
