Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences today signed an MoU with RSB Metaltech Pvt Ltd. It will sponsor the institute’s Under-16 boys’ rugby team for one year.
“The MoU intends to strengthen relationships between the two organisations to provide value-based education to children from marginalised sections of the society,” said RSB Group chairman R.K. Behera.
The MoU was signed by the CEO of the institute, Prashant Routray, and the president of RSB Metaltech Pvt Ltd.
Following the MoU, the company will bear all the expenses of the rugby team, including purchase of their outfits, sports accessories, domestic travel costs, food and medical expenses and so on.
About 50 tribal students at the institute have been receiving training in rugby over the last few years. Besides foreign coaches, the Tag Rugby Development Trust has been supporting the institute.
The institute currently has Under-19, Under-16, Under-14 and Under-13 rugby teams for both boys and girls.
Some teams from the institute have already played and won matches in Australia and England besides playing championship matches in Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta.
