Rebels held

Kokrajhar, June 28: Two cadres of the NDFB (anti-talks faction) — Sunil Mochahari, 23, and Kanen Daimari, 25 — were apprehended by security forces from near the Mazbat railway station in Udalguri district at 6am today.

Oath-taking

Kokrajhar: Bikram Singh Basumatary, Usha Das took oath as chairman and vice-chairman of Udalguri town committee while Parimal Krishna Paul, Sonmani Basumatary and Krishna Rijal were administered oath of secrecy as ward members on Monday.

Electrocuted

Dhubri: Deben Roy, 61, of Srijangram in Bongaigaon district and Kamal Begum, 40, of Kharadhara village in Barpeta district died of electrocution on Sunday.

Road mishap

Dhubri: Fifteen passengers were injured when a bus plunged into a ditch on NH 31 at Bhawanipur in Barpeta district on Sunday.

Two arrested

Dhubri: Habibar Rahman, 35, and Mokibur Rahman, 26, prime accused in the murder of Motiur Rahman of Kalakuchi village in 2007, were arrested on Sunday.
