by Rituparno Ghosh and produced by Prosenjit’s Ideas

mark the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
The serial features Mimi as Sohini, who learns
Rabindrasangeet in the traditional style, and Arjun as Gora,
who loves to experiment with Tagore’s tunes.
Arjun, actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty’s
younger son, and Mimi are both students — he in third-year at St Xavier’s

Gaaner Oparey airs Monday
from June 28.
Prosenjit and Rituparno discussed their joint project. “Rituparno has given a shape to the idea that STAR Jalsha had presented to us. After he wrote the script, we realised it was premium property,” said Prosenjit. “The story has a lot of my felt experiences. I am enjoying the writing process. I never felt it was a tiring job, having finished 50 episodes,” said Rituparno
Debojyoti Mishra, who is composing the music for Gaaner Oparey, with the serial’s director Joydip Mukherjee. “We felt only Debojyoti could do justice to a musical of this scale,” said Prosenjit
