South Point, Silver Oak and KVK triumph

Guwahati, June 16: South Point School, Silver Oak School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara (KVK) today registered emphatic wins in their respective matches of the 13th Golap Hazarika inter-school cricket tournament at Janata Bhawan Parade ground here.

In the 15-overs-an-innings (under-14) matches, South Point inflicted a nine-wicket defeat on Guwahati Public School (GPS) while Silver Oak defeated Maharishi Vidya Mandir by 83 runs. In another under-16 match, KVK prevailed over Indian Public School by 29 runs.

GPS elected to bat and were 96 for nine in 15 overs. South Point, in reply, reached 99 losing only one wicket in 10.4 overs. Priyankar Chakraborty, who topscored for South Point with an unbeaten 46 and scalped two wickets for 16 runs, was named Man of the Match.

In the second under-14 match, Silver Oak elected to bat and were all out for 187 in 15 overs. The Maharishi boys were restricted to 105 for nine in 15 overs. Kailash Rai of Silver Oak was named Man of the Match for his hurricane 17-ball 57 and three-wicket haul for 18 runs.

In the under-16 match, KVK elected to bat and posted a modest total of 139 for six in 15 overs. Chasing the target, the Indian Public School boys were all out for 110 in 14.1 overs. KVK boy Avinash Sharma, who scored 33 runs, was adjudged Man of the Match.

Tomorrow, Gurukul Grammar School will play Arya Vidyapith HS School and Srimanata Sankar Academy clash with Guwahati Public School in two under-16 matches while Little Flower School will clash with Silver Oak in an under-14 tie.
