Girl dies in Howrah

A Howrah girl died at Howrah District Hospital on Wednesday after consuming poison on Tuesday. Police said a family fight could have driven Dalia Roy, 16, to suicide.

Attack

Tapati Roy, the CPM candidate from ward 23 of North Dum Dum Municipality, lodged a complaint with Nimta police station alleging that Trinamul supporters had thrown bricks at her car while she was on her way to collect the winning certificate. Trinamul leaders denied the charge.

Heckled

Police vehicle driver, B. Debnath, was heckled by a mob when his vehicle allegedly hit a biker in Kankurgachi on Wednesday.
