VBU rules for PhD aspirants

Hazaribagh, May 18: Getting admission in PhD courses in Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) has just become more difficult. The PhD aspirants will have to appear for an eligibility test to be conducted by the university.

VBU has formed a five-member committee headed by the dean of social science, S.N. Singh, to oversee the process in an attempt to bring in transparency. However, those who have qualified in NET and SET will be exempted from the test along with MPhil degree-holders.

Singh said his team would prepare the syllabus for the eligibility test, set the paper, evaluate it and then publish the result. “Earlier, the heads of the departments used to conduct the tests. But at a meeting with vice-chancellor Jyoti Lal Oraon on April 29, it was decided that the university will take over,” he added.
