A candidate, aspiring for the post of sub-inspector in Jharkhand police, participates in the physical ability test at JAP grounds in Ranchi on Friday. Around 70,000 candidates, including 15,000 women, are taking part in the month-long drive, meant to recruit around 650 sub-inspectors and 50 sergeants. Around 40,000 candidates are from the state capital alone. Tests are being conducted at three venues — Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium, Hotwar, JAP grounds at Doranda and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Dhurwa — to avoid overcrowding. More than 1,000 candidates took the physical test on the first day. The drive started in the districts on April 27. Picture by Hardeep Singh
